Well…
It’s been a while. But I haven’t gone away—I’ve been working! And I’m back now to announce an upcoming new release!
But more on that in a bit.
As I said, I’ve been working… a lot. But it isn’t the next Olive Tree Academy book (though that’s entering the final stages, too, I promise!) and it isn’t anything else in Barrow City world. Instead, I’ve been working on something I never planned to do, at least not under this name.
I started a whole new world.
Yep, I fell into that trap that every author tries (and often fails) to resist: the shiny object of a new story.
Last May, I started work on a series set in an entirely different world. It’s not that different from BC, really. Some of the “monster rules” are different, and there’s no character or story overlap, but it’s still Urban Fantasy, still my usual mix of diverse, snarky characters.
The catch, though? It isn’t novels. Rather, this is a series of linked novellas. I have books 1-8 of a 9 book series more or less done as I write this, just pending some beta-reader feedback and final edits. The plan is to publish the first book in June, and then another every other month from there. That start date could change, but I don’t think it will.
I have a LOT to tell you about all of this, from the new format and my reasons for it, to the new world and this awesome group of new characters I’ve fallen in love with, to my ongoing (and somewhat changed) plans for Olive Tree Academy and the rest of Barrow City. Rather than cram all that into one giant post, I just wanted to get an “I’m back!” post up, then I’ll add the rest soon.
Keep an eye out for site updates, too—right now, everything’s themed to Apprentice, but that’ll be changing to the new series very, very soon!! I can’t wait to share it with you!!
