Cabot was an excellent student… last year. Now that his second year at OTA has begun, he feels less psychic than when he first enrolled over a year ago. Now he’s been chosen to mentor the new girl, who’s abilities far outstrip his own. Trouble seems to follow Sofia wherever she goes, but Cabot thinks getting close to her is well worth the risk.

So… what’s Olive Tree Academy?
OTA is a secret, supernatural college. It exists in a pocket dimension, tethered to our world just outside of my fictional city Barrow City.
Students at OTA fall into one of two tracks: Academic, or MAPA. MAPA is an acronym for “Magickal Arts Psychic Arts.” MAPA students are those who’ve displayed particular talent for psychic and/or magickal ability out in the world, and have been discovered and recruited by the school. MAPA students make up just under a third of the students at OTA, but they’re who you’ll get to know first.
Academic students don’t have supernatural talents themselves, necessarily, but rather study the supernatural world from a, well, academic perspective. They learn about cryptid animals like chupacabras, cryptid people like vampires and werewolves, and even cryptid plants. They study alchemy, meditation, ancient religions, and many other topics. About two-thirds of OTA students are Academics.
Oh, and there’s a third track at OTA as well, the VTT or Vampire Transformation Track. This is just what it sounds like–a track for learning about vampires and then becoming one. This first book doesn’t get too into the VTT, but it’s definitely coming!
Apprentice is the first of nine planned books in this first cycle of OTA books, and the Olive Tree Academy series is just one of a few series set in and around Barrow City.
