I’ve been talking a lot over the past few weeks about my new series, The Nexus. Those books will be coming out starting June 14th and continuing through September 2025. But while the publication dates are pretty far out on the last few, the whole group of nine books is actually almost done. So today, I’ve decided to talk a bit about what’s next, both in terms of my work schedule as well as the publication schedule.
I do still have the last 20% or so of the season finale of The Nexus: Season One to finish writing. From there, it’ll get a solid revision pass, then I’ll be starting line edits book by book, starting at episode two, The Night Mare. (Episode one, Arcanum City Secrets, is completely done as of right now, unless one of my straggler beta readers has some bit of feedback that compels me to tweak something.) So The Nexus isn’t done-done, but it’s pretty done.
Next up, then, is getting back to a long list of intense revisions for the second book in the Olive Tree Academy series: Between the Worlds. This book has been sitting around in third-draft form since before I started The Nexus, but I have a long list of items to go through and add, fix, or update. My current goal for that one is a release in the first half of 2025, but I haven’t assigned it an official release date just yet.
While I’m revising and editing, though, I still need a project in first draft, so that I’m getting my words in every day. That project is another series structured like The Nexus, but set in Barrow City world, called Widdershins. It’s a bit more typical Urban Fantasy fare than OTA, not unlike The Nexus in that it’s a team of street-level monster hunters doing their thing. Different team, different setting, and different monsters, but if you enjoy The Nexus, then Widdershins will be right up your alley as well. Widdershins is actually the first project I conceived to be structured like a TV series, and I’m actually about 2 ½ episodes in (in first draft form) already.
So that’s where I’m at. Trying to juggle a first-draft project with revising/editing other projects is going to be a new adventure for me—I’m sure I’ll either complain about it or sing its praises on this blog at some point. At some point in the near-ish future, I’ll also have to add plotting/outlining to the rotation as well, because I’ll need the next project to start on once I finish the first draft of Widdershins Season One. (For the record, that’ll probably be OTA book three, which doesn’t have a title yet.)
Wow, that’s a lot going on! I guess I should get out of here and get back to work!
Thanks for stopping by!
